Great Lessons

The Great Lessons comprise the principal “backpack” that can keep a Montessori teacher on course, as these presentations remind us all of the overriding theme of the Elementary curriculum – Cosmic Education. The session will consist of setting the theoretical base for this work, presentations, analysis and assessment of the presentations, and creative endeavor in small groups, each group focusing on one of the five topics – The Story of the Universe, The Coming of Life on Earth, The Appearance of Human Beings, The Development of Language and the Development of Mathematics.

In addition, one group will focus on ideas for developing other Great Lessons on other areas of human endeavor – the arts, in particular. Bring both hemispheres of your brain to this session; you will need both.
